MASTERING THE CRAFT OF CUPPING & SENSORY DEVELOPMENT

Sensory Development Course


This half day course is a celebration of all the pleasures of drinking specialty coffee. Throughout the day you will learn how to unlock your senses and develop the correct language in describing what you are experiencing in the cup and in addition expand your knowledge of tasting notes. You will learn how to use many coffee flavour attributes including:

  • Fragrance
  • Aroma
  • Taste
  • Aftertaste
  • Acidity
  • Body
  • Balance
  • Sweetness

As part of the sensory development process, we will study in depth one of the most iconic resources available in the Specialty Coffee Industry; that is the newly reinvented Coffee Tasters Flavour Wheel created as a collaboration effort, by our mates at World Coffee Research and the Specialty Coffee Association of America. This resource will guide you with key descriptors, activate memories and stimulate you to be able to identify words that you never thought possible to describe coffee. In addition we will also expose you to the craft of flavour matching with several awesome tastes identified in our range of single origin coffees available on the day. You too could be the next coffee supertaster!

 

All participants will be required to wear enclosed shoes and sleeved shirts.
